ABOUT DESI COWS
The desi cow is one of India's most famous indigenous dairy breeds. Its native region lies in the hills and forests of Kathiawar, covering the districts of Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and Amreli in Gujarat.
The desi cows have several desirable attributes: they are highly tolerant of heat and stress conditions and are resistant to many tropical diseases. Generally, Desi cattle are considered one of the finest indigenous breeds, especially for their high-quality milk.

Desi Cow milk
Milk is known to contain several types of proteins, but beta-casein is almost one-third of the total protein present. What really counts, however, is the type of beta-casein. All cows have beta-casein, but Gir cows-an indigenous Indian breed-produce milk that contains only A2 beta-casein. In contrast, the milk of most hybrid cows contains A1 beta-casein. Scientific studies have shown that A1 and A2 beta-casein are digested differently in the human body. The digestion process for A1 beta-casein releases a peptide, known as BCM-7, and it has been associated with negative impacts on digestive health. It is indicated by studies that these protein fragments formed during digestion may be pivotal in dictating how the human digestive system functions.
